From fear of inactivity
« on: September 10, 2012, 10:34:27 pm »
Since so many people aren't logging, I thought that I should log on far more. As a moderator it is no longer an "if I want to" type thing(not completely) it is a "I need to" type thing. I'm going to try hard to be on more. Kinda turning away from Tekkit as it causes LOADS of system lag for me :/

I'll try to be on the vanilla or main and keep at least one person coming on consistently ;)

Also, I am going to be making a museum on the main server of how to use....
Redstone! I have wanted to do this for a while and I think it would allow other people to really know just how much one can do with it.

Thanks all!

Kewl, thanks Erundur!  Altho, I think its still some of the summer lag. Hopefully with school starting back up we'll soon start to see more traffic again, as in the past.

There are a few new people I see checking in to the servers now and then, altho they aren't members. But people are looking.

Any ideas of what we could do to increase traffic with quality players?  And avoid opening up to griefers?  At times, I'm tempted to open it up to not having member permissions, but I think that would just cause more headaches with griefers and such.  Not sure if this is the case with Tekkit, may try that with a new Tekkit server (non-pvp) to see how that goes.  Just not sure if its a good idea to do that with the main servers?

I wish I had more time to play, but with work and such, I just don't get the time to do much.  Not as free to do that as I was when I was off work for a while last winter!  :(

Just a thought...

Now, tekkit uses like 41 mods at this time for that game. All of them are mods we could utilize in regular minecraft, however, some of them the players would have to set up on their clients, as well.

Not sure I like making people download client-side mods just to play on our regular servers, but...   if you have any suggestions or ideas as to some good plugins to use, we could certainly change up the main server some. Get rid of some of the plugins we have that don't get used much and replace with newer ones.  I'm certainly open to suggestions...

If any of you go to other servers that are popular, what plugins are you seeing out there??

Thanks!

Well, I play on a Roman RP server called Romecraft. It uses MCMMO and there are many factions in it. I believe that it also has essentials, but I might be wrong.

I think that If we need to make a server popular, we need to advertise it. We should probably make more YouTube vids and get some ad stuff going on.

We could have factions for different towns, maybe? Or perhaps different factions like "government" for mayors/mayor employees, etc.

Suggestions? I think we need to keep the no-griefing policy, otherwise things get out of hand.

Right... the rules definitely need to be updated, regardless of what changes we go to.  Maybe even separate rules per server?  Or is that too much?  Idk...

I don't think I'm looking to get hundreds of people on at a time, but would be nice to have a dozen or two at a time... so people come and see traffic.

We tried to get a 'government' system started on the vanilla, but it fizzled.. of course, hard to do when almost everyone moves into the one town!  LOL    Not sure how to set that up more effectively.

I definitely agree more videos would be nice. I just wish I had to time to do them!  Certainly open to other people doing some vids if they would like to submit to us for posting!  :)
